Who we are
I’m Matt, and I’ve been growing things for as long as I can remember. As a child, I dreamed of becoming a vegetable farmer, but over the years, flowers have gradually taken centre stage. While I always grew some flowers, they were originally intended as edible treats for my flock of rescue parrots—who still enjoy the occasional sunflower or dahlia.
With a background in Environmental Management, I have always been passionate about the sustainability of the food and products we consume. When I learned more about the environmental impact of imported flowers, I knew I wanted to play a part in changing that by helping increase the availability of locally grown, seasonal, and sustainably produced flowers within Scotland.
My passion for cut flowers has continued to grow, leading to the creation of Appleton Flower Fields.
At Appleton Flower Fields, we cultivate seasonal flowers at Barnhill Farm in Renfrewshire, with a strong commitment to sustainable practices and producing high-quality, farm-fresh blooms.
